2026 Championship of Champions Regatta
Welcome to the host club site for the US Sailing 2026 Championship of Champions Regatta!
The event has been stretched out to four days of racing and one practice day. It will be sailed in a boat with a 103 year history, the E Scow. Each boat will be equipped with a Vakaros Atlas2, which in addition to providing valuable compass information will also enable the use of RaceSense to manage the starts.
We would like to begin by thanking sponsors, especially the National Class E Scow Association. The commitment to make this a world class event is appreciated by all. Additional equipment sponsors include the primary builder, Melges Performance Sailboats, North Sails, and Vakaros. We also have a number of local sponsors.
If you are considering sailing in the event, we encourage you to look at information for racers below. If you are interested in finding out more about the event, please see the other informational links below. If interested in learning more about E Scows, please go to e-scow.org for additional information.
Thank you for your interest in this 2026 Championship regatta.
History of the Champion of Champions Regatta:
Inaugurated in 1976, the Championship of Champions award is named in honor of Jack Brown who was noted for his service as a judge, regatta organizer and member of US Sailing Committees.
US Sailing selects up to nineteen competitors from nominees by their class associations who are current national, North American or World champions of their respective classes. Eligible are sailors who normally sail in the U.S., are members of US Sailing and are members of a club, class or association affiliated with US Sailing.
The championship is held in a different class each year, and boats are supplied, and if possible, shall be new and identical. Additionally, each year a guest helm is invited. Invited helms have included winner of the Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year, Olympians, and other sailing luminaries.
Classes in which the event has been held run the gamut from conventional to cutting edge and have included Y-Flyers, Snipes, Hobie Cats, J-24’s, Sunfish and Etchells, to name just a few. In 2026, US Sailing has selected the E Scow, a 3-4 person sloop rigged boat with an asymmetrical spinnaker. It will be held at the Wawasee Yacht Club in Syracuse, IN, using boats from their fleet. The boats are not new, but will be tuned to be as identical as possible.
To maintain the integrity of the trophy, it will remain on display at the National Governing Body of the sport – U.S. Sailing Association
