ORGANIZING AUTHORITY
The Hoosier Regatta is organized by Lightning Fleet 154, in conjunction with the International Lightning Class Association (ILCA).
RULES
The regatta shall be governed by the rules as defined in the current Racing Rules of Sailing. Appendix T, Sections A, B and D will apply; the Prescriptions of US Sailing; the Document Governing all Sanctioned Lightning Class Championships (hereafter referred to as the Document Governing), except as any of these are altered by these sailing instructions), and by the Sailing Instructions.
ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY
Eligibility for entry shall be in accordance with Articles V, VI, and VII of the Document Governing. Eligible boats may enter the Regatta by completing the registration form and paying the registration fee. Registration is online at The Regatta Network.
FEES
An entry fee of $145 USD is due upon registration. A late fee of $20 will be added for registrations received on or after 9/25/23. Registration includes regatta registration, Saturday doughnuts/coffee, Saturday bag lunches (3), Saturday post-race snacks, Saturday beef tenderloin dinners (3), one regatta shirt, open keg, Sunday breakfast and Sunday lunches (3).

The Principal Race Officer may adjust the racing schedule to suit weather conditions. The Principal Race Officer may try to conduct as many races in a given day as possible. **No warning signal will be made after 12:30 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2023**
RACING AREA
Races will be sailed in the general area of the Wawasee Yacht Club racing area on Lake Wawasee, near Syracuse, Indiana.
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The Sailing Instructions will be available onsite beginning Friday, September 29, 2023.
COURSES
The courses will be windward-leeward in configuration. Specific courses to be sailed, including offset and leeward gate information, will be provided in the Sailing Instructions.
RADIO COMMUNICATION
Use of hand held VHF radios will be permitted for communication from the Race Committee to competitors on a predetermined channel to be identified in the Sailing Instructions. The Race Committee intends to use VHF radio to identify OCS (On Course Side of the line) boats after starts and otherwise communicate with the fleet on the water. Failure to receive a hail, for a hail to be made, the order of hails made, or receive other communications to the fleet shall not be cause for redress.
NUMBER OF RACES
Five (5) or more races are planned. If more than 5 races are completed, each competitor’s worst finish will not be scored.
SCORING
Scoring will be in accordance with the Document Governing
TROPHIES
Trophies will be awarded to the top 5 placing skippers and crew.
HOUSING
We strive to provide housing to all regatta participants. Advanced notice is required.

Additional housing notes:
- Camping is available on the grounds of the Wawasee Yacht Club.
- Limited RV parking is available (no water or sewer service).
- Well-behaved pets are welcomed at the Wawasee Yacht Club.
- Several hotels, motels, and B&B’s are located nearby.
